The preface to this book was written by a former Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, the authors are experts in the field of problems leading to and arising from woodland fires. The authors felt the need to offer a solution to the problem which is always tragically present in our modern society. This book is aimed at all those operating in the sector. A sector which is increasing and that at present encompasses not only State-run Units such as the Forestry Guards, Fire Brigade, Civil Protection Units, etc., but also volunteer services and associations. It offers explanations of the causes, states the problems, illustrates procedures and systems in a single and an overall view of the phenomenon. There are numerous photographs, graphs, tables and drawings that enrich the text making comprehension even easier. Also included are the laws in force on the matter, with references to regional laws, regulations governing non-woodland fires, a glossary of commonly used terms in the fight against woodland fires. Lastly there is also an extremely helpful mention of first aid applications.
